ppTHE DATA PROTECTION Commission DPC has launched a formal inquiry into Childrens Health Ireland CHI following concerns about the security of childrens health records at its Tallaght University Hospital TUH facilityppThe inquiry comes after the DPC received information from multiple sources including protected disclosures and a breach notification submitted by CHIppAn unannounced site inspection was carried out at hospital by the DPC on 16 JulyppppThe investigation will focus on CHIs compliance with GDPR particularly the security of personal data and the management of physical health records at the Tallaght siteppIn a statement CHI said it is cooperating fully with the DPCppAs this is an ongoing regulatory process it would be inappropriate to comment further at this time the statement readppOur priority remains the protection of patient information and ensuring all personal data is handled in line with our legal obligationspp
